THE TERMS AND TERMINOLOGIES OF THE SHARIA LAW OF SUCCESSION (MIRATH)

Those are the terms and terminology commonly use in mirath ( sharia law of succession ), it is very important for  students, lectures or any seeker of the knowledge of mirath to know those terms and terminology used in Islamic law of inheritance.

M = Mother

F = Father

S = Son

D = Daughter

2D = two Daughters

S.S = Son of Son

D.S = Daughter of Son

2.D.S = two Daughters of son

D.D = Daughter of Daughter

S.D = Son of Daughter

G.B= Gamine Brother

G.S = Gamine Sister

2G.S = two Gamine Sister

C.B = Consanguine Brother

C.S = Consanguine Sister

2C.S = 2  Consanguine Sisters

U.S = Uterine Sister

U.B = Uterine Brother

F.F = Father of Father

M.M = Mother of Mother

M.F = Mother of Father

F.M= Father of Mother

P.U= Paternal Uncle

P.U.S = Paternal Uncle's Son

P.U.D = Paternal Uncle's Daughter

P.A = Paternal Aunt

P.A.S = Paternal Aunt's Son

P.A.D = Paternal Aunt's Daughter

H.P.U = Half Parternal  Uncle

H.P.U.S = Half Paternal Uncle's son

H.P.U.D = Half Paternal Uncle Daughter

M.U = Maternal Uncl e

M.U.S = Maternal Uncle's Son

M.A = Maternal Aunt

M.A.S = Maternal Aunt's Son

M.A.D = Maternal Aunt's Daughter

H.H.S = How High Soever

H.L.S = How Low Soever

EX = Exclude

G.F = Grandfather

G.M = grandmother

R = Residue 

List Terminologies

Walad = child

Asabah = Residuary

Asabah ma'alghair = Residuary with another

Asabah bil-ghair = Residuary by Another

Kalala = person who died leaving no surviving children (hls)

False G.F = is a grandfather true female, i.e Father of Mother

False G.M = is a grandmother true Male, I.e Mother of Father

Link = a person that relate or connect a claimant of inheritance with and the deceased person

Muqasima = is a situation whereby a grandfather is lower to the level or capacity of siblings so as the enable him to inherit together with the siblings as their brother, read the reason of this situation in list of Qur'anic heirs 

Upper class I.e SS in upper class while SSS is lower class 

Same class I.e SS and DS or DS and DD they are all in the same class 

Same blood I.e SS and DS, same blood because they are all children of S


Conclusion

     It is very important for a seeker of the knowledge of Sharia Law of inheritance to Know All those terms and terminologies used by many Authors and jurist, as that will help the seeker easily comprehend and understand any mirath book he take a step to study
